Abstract: Indonesia is located in the combination region of Eurasian-Asian, Indian -Australian and Pacific plates, so its structure is very complicated. There are about 60 sedimentary basins in Indonesia, 11 of them are oil and gas producing basins which are distributed on Sumatra, Java, East Kalimadan, East Indonesia and South China Sea. The oil and gas production of Indonesia reached the highest(over 80 million tons) in the 1960s and was 5.6 million tons in 2002. From the 1960s, Indonesia began to introduce foreign investment into oil and gas exploration, involving more than 30 foreign oil companies at one time. China oil companies entered into the field of Indonesian oil and gas production from 1990s. Until now, CNOOC has working interest in 9 blocks and CNPC in 7 blocks and SINOPEC in 1 block. During 2003-2004. CNPC has obtained good achievements in the exploration of Indonesia and found 11 oil and gas fields
